Vacation update

On Sunday we drove to Mobile and we checked into our motel and then drove to Gulf Shores. We played two rounds of mini golf and walked along the beach. We drove back to our motel. During the day, the winds were high and so was the water in the Gulf. Water was splashing over the seawall and causing a few problems for vehicles. Monday I worked during the morning and Kurt toured the USS Alabama. I toured the USS Drum submarine with him and then we went to a local restaurant for supper. We got to see our first gator from the deck of the restaurant. The waitress said the day before the parking lot was flooded and an alligator was spotted where our car was parked. I told Kurt to make sure the doors were unlocked and I jumped in the car quickly.

Tuesday we drove to Pensacola Beach in Florida. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express on the beach. It was great. We spent the afternoon and evening walking and sitting on the beach. Camera crews were every where because the oil was supposed to make landfall. The winds switched and the oil was pushed back away from the coast.

Wednesday we drove to Slidell Louisana and took a swamp tour. Then we drove to New Orleans. We are going to take a city tour this morning and then drive back to Biloxi, MS for the last few days of our trip. Today is our 15th anniversary, so hopefully it will be enjoyable for us.
