We spent our last few days in Gulfport/Biloxi. We enjoyed time on the beach and took a city tour of Biloxi on the Shrimp Train. You just can't imagine the devastation that Hurricane Katrina caused. Much is still needing to be re-built in the area. Kurt and I feel so bad for those that did come back and re-build and now are going through the pain of the oil disaster. We were lucky enough to leave before the oil arrived. We heard a few hours after we left the beach area, that oil was starting to come ashore. They also were reporting 5 dead sea turtles had shown up the beach that day. In a nearby river, 2 alligators were found dead as well.

Our vacation was fun and enjoyable. It also opened our eyes to the major devastation a hurricane or oil spill can cause.
