Travels on ice
Yesterday we had an ice storm. We needed to get my mom to Omaha to fly out this morning, so we watched the weather closely. We saw an opportunity at 2:30 pm yesterday, when we thought the roads would be in the best condition so we headed out quickly. The roads were wet, and slushy. The fog was very thick at times. By the time we got to Seward, the roads were only wet. In a 10 mile range near Seward, the temperature rose from 36 to 56. The temperature rise caused the windows to steam over outside of the car. Once we got that cleared up, we set the cruise and had clear roads to Omaha. This morning, we had a little bit of snow in Omaha, but had dry roads all the way home. The ice was thickest in Grand Island, and tapered off the further east you got. There were only a few trucks in the ditch.
