Buried Treasure...or is it?
We moved into our house 11 years ago, and it is still amazing what we find in the yard. Over the years, we have found dozens of marbles (the good, old kind that are worth some money). We have found spoons, little green army men, a doll, 8 inch nails with square heads, and much more. Speaking with a man that used to live here as a child, he has explained why we find some of these items. The doll belonged to his sister and the brothers hid it from her. The brothers used to play with the army men and throw marbles at them as bombs. Yesterday, we were playing with the dogs, and I thought I saw something metal. I used the edge of my shoe and uncovered a formerly buried treasure. What would it be? Would it be some kind of antique we could sell on E-bay and retire to a private Caribbean island? No such luck. It was just an old outdoor water faucet handle. We have it soaking in Coke to remove some of the dirt and corrosion on the metal. Kurt is going to use it as a paper weight on his desk.
