Bad weather
Yesterday, we walked around Worlds of Fun for awhile. Most of the rides were shut down either due to maintenance or they had gotten hit by lightening the night before. So we left after just a few short hours there. We headed to Olathe so Kurt could have a birthday lunch at Joe's Crab Shack. In the three days we were here so far, we ate at a Joe's each day. It started raining while we were inside the restaurant. When we came out, the clouds were looking very dangerous. I was watching the sky so much, we missed a turn and our Garmin had to recalculate. We got to our new hotel near the Kansas Speeddway and Cabelas just in time for a big storm. A funnel cloud popped up from the clouds we saw at Joe's. We had really close lightening that shook the hotel, so we stayed here until it was over. Then we went to a shopping center for a little while. We went to Famous Dave's for a light shared appetizer and bread pudding for Kurt's birthday supper. We were so full that we waddled back to our hotel. The restaurant and hotel are right next to each other, so we didn't have to drive. We were both so full and miserable that we sat in our room and watched traffic go by. I am still full this morning. Today we will go to the Schlitterbahn water park. We heard it is only partially completed, so it might not take long to do the slides and lazy river. We saw a Jimmy Buffett's Cheeseburger in Paradise last night when we were coming back from the shopping center, so we will probably eat there sometime today. We both like the one in Omaha. Then we will drive back home in the morning. We are staying at a Hampton Inn and it is really nice and quiet. Much better than the Holiday Inn by WOF/OOF.
