Back from Branson

Sorry I didn't blog, but we were too busy having fun! We had a bit of a shaky start. The car rental spot did not have a car available to us until 12:30 on Monday. Once we got the car loaded, we headed down the interstate. Around Milford, we got detoured to Hwy 34 and it took 1 hour to get to Seward where we could get back on the interstate. Then when we got to Nebr City, the rain was so heavy you could barely see in front of you. We drove through those conditions all the way to Clinton, MO. We stopped at a very nice Hampton Inn for the evening. In the morning, the sky was blue and we had a pleasurable trip the remaining two hours to Branson. We picked up all of our tickets and then checked into the motel. We had time for some shopping and then headed to the Dixie Stampede for supper. Dolly has added a long horn steer stampede and taken out the buffalo stampede. Wednesday morning we had front row seats at the Larry Gatlin and Gatlin Bros show. The guys came down off the stage and were right in front of us for awhile. It was awesome! They still sound great.

That afternoon, we went to The Shepherd of the Hills Theater and toured the place. Then we had a Sons of the Pioneer Chuckwagon Dinner. It was much better than the Circle B show we went to last year. It rained that night and the bathroom was 50 yards downhill, so I caught a cold, but it was worth it.

On Thursday, we went to see Mickey Gilley and were seated in the front row again. He is starting to show his age and would forget his lines during the show. His voice was still good though.

That afternoon, we went to the Jim Stafford show. We were seated in the 2nd row. He likes to sling moistened cow patties in the audience when he sings Yippee Ya Yay Cowpatti. We got slightly moistened. What a great show!

On Friday, we went to Silver Dollar City. We didn't ride any rides, just went for the crafters. It was such a nice fall day and the decor was great. While we were in Branson, we played 6 rounds of mini golf. I won 4 out of 6, and only lost by 1 stroke on the one course. I blame the two loses on having a cold and wind interference with my hair.

We drove home all day yesterday, and today we will return the car, do laundry, pick up the kids from jail, pick our Christmas tree, etc.
