Hurricane Ike

Kurt and I have been watching the coverage of the hurricane. We were in the Seabrook/Clear Lake area last year and drove over to Galveston Island for a day. We stayed across the street from the NASA lake that the Weather Channel lady keeps talking about. We wondered if the sail boats in the marina would be safe, but it sounds like they have all sunk. The flooding is just awful as well. The seawall on Galveston was at least twice my height, and the water is rushing over it. We had gone down steps in the sea wall to get to the water with at least 20 feet between the edge of the water and the wall. It is unbelievable to imagine the amount of water that has flooded the island. It also sounds like the island was flooded more from the harbor side rather than the gulf side. The Kemah Boardwalk is flooded as well. It is in between Seabrook and Galveston. We had lunch there and shopped. It is a very popular place and the shrimp boats dock there. Please pray for the people that have been affected by this hurricane.
