Bass Pro vs Cabelas

Kurt and I decided we definitely like Bass Pro better. Last weekend we went to Kearney to shop at Cabelas. The store was not that busy and we couldn't find an employee to help Kurt find work shoes. Once we did finally track someone down, they said they had discontinued the shoes and weren't very helpful in finding something else. I also asked to try on a shoe style and they said those were discontinued. So we left without buying any shoes.

This weekend we drove to the La Vista Cabelas. We found Kurt's shoe style, but had a hard time getting any assistance from the employees. Finally I interrupted two employees that were talking about personal things and said we could use some help. The lady employee took Kurt's info to the back and came back and said they didn't have his shoe size and that was that. We decided we would head to Bass Pro in Council Bluffs.

At Bass Pro, I quickly found a comparable shoe and we were assisted by two friendly employees. They helped us each find shoes and of course, I had to buy marinades and spices for the seafood and meat we will eat this winter. We got to eat at Famous Dave's across the parking lot and then drove back home. The Bass Pro employees made our day much better and we enjoyed the drive in the warm weather.

On our way to Omaha, we saw a semi truck had caught on fire between Lincoln and Waverly. We hoped it would be cleared up as they were diverting traffic off the interstate. When we headed back through, the truck and trailer were still on the shoulder, which caused traffic to merge to one lane and we had stop and go driving for about 30 minutes. But at least we didn't have to detour off the interstate like we did going to Branson.
